Loving at the Intersections

Polyamory, Queerness, Race, and Body Politics

Sunday, August 23rd

8:30 am

Room: Maroon Bells

Polyamory doesn't exist outside the social world. How we love, date, and communicate is shaped by race, gender, queerness, body size, disability, and other lived experiences. For many of us, nonmonogamy is also about navigating belonging, visibility, safety, and power.

This session explores polyamory at the intersections of queerness, race, and body politics — unpacking how beauty standards, racism, anti-fat bias, and respectability politics show up in dating and community spaces, and how marginalization affects desirability, access, emotional labor, and feeling truly seen. We'll also explore building poly communities rooted in consent, care, accountability, pleasure, and liberation, with reflection, language, and tools for more affirming connection.
